Pastor's Weekly Musing
Hey everyone!
When I think of the nature and character of God, I usually put it on terms of His power and might. It’s true, right? He’s immovable, immutable, omnipotent, omniscient, sovereign and sure. That’s a good place to land when describing God.
But I love how David, in his “greatest hits” Psalm 23, describes God in a different light, but just as true and necessary to know.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Psalm 23:1
What a declaration! David knows shepherding, knows the ins and outs of tending to a flock, knows just how much care is needed to lead, guide, and protect a group of stubborn sheep. He’s seen good shepherds and he’s seen bad ones.
Jesus Himself describes both in John 10, when He says, “The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.”
What a privilege to have One that I can fully trust, who can lead me well, who is competent, has integrity, and has my good in mind. Where else am I going to get that kind of leadership: always perfect, always for me, always able? About whom else can I say, “I’m following them no matter what in everything they say or do, and all will work out for me perfectly in the end”?
Psalm 84:11 says, “No good thing will he withhold from me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 tells us, “My grace is sufficient for you.”
Romans 8:28 says, “All things work together for the good of those who love Him.”
There is none who can lead like Jesus. He is our Good Shepherd, the one who makes us “lie down in grass pastures”, leads us “beside still waters”, who “restores our souls”, and causes “goodness and mercy” to follow us all the days of our lives.
Put your trust in Him today!

After our long, start-the-year series, This is Us, we’ll enjoy a guest speaker this coming Sunday. I’m so excited for you guys to hear him.
His name is Pastor Dan Fernandez, and he’s as good of a ministry buddy as any that I’ve got. He was a young adult pastor here in Las Vegas for years at ChurchLV in south Las Vegas, and is currently the campus pastor at Life Pacific University in southern California, our denomination’s flagship college for pastors and leaders.
He’s an author, a speaker, a pastor, and friend, and he specializes in and is passionate about community and discipleship, and I can’t wait for his insight into exactly where Meadows is headed.
Join us this Sunday for encouragement and connection.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the walkway!
