Pastor's Weekly Musing
Hey everyone!
Here's what's happening at Meadows:
- This Sunday is our Operation: Christmas Child shoe box collection day! If you haven't already, bring your full OCC shoe boxes to church, and we will pray over them at the end of each service.
- Thanksgiving is next week (crazy, right?), so we'll have no meetings this coming Wednesday evening, November 23. Enjoy the holiday!
- Monday morning prayer will meet this Monday, November 21.
- Our annual Advent series will begin the Sunday after Thanksgiving, November 30. I love this time of year!

Psalm 40:1-2 says, "I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps."
If you've ever walked through a swampland, or marsh, or even felt the pull of the wet sand sucking your feet deeper, you know the feeling of what David refers to as "miry clay". It's kinda gross, you feel stuck, and the more you struggle the worse it gets.
(It's kinda like the quicksand I saw in movies as a kid and thought would be a much bigger problem as an adult.)
David tells of how God pulled him out of that swampland, and then put him on something solid, a rock that enabled him to have established steps. He's that kind of God.
Wait patiently, brethren. He hears you, knows you, sees you, and inclines Himself to you. Even when we don't see it or feel it, He's there, establishing your steps.

This Sunday is the first of what we're calling a PPP: Pause with Pastor Portia.
In between series, or even right smack dab in the middle of a series, Pastor Portia will bring a Word that is unique to our current church and cultural moment, a message that I believe is needed for us to be encouraged and re-directed.
This Sunday, she'll be preaching a message entitled, Live Worthy.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the walkway!
