Pastor's Weekly Musing

Hey everyone!

Happy New Year to you all! We kicked off the New Year in glorious fashion, with baptisms and baby dedications and Communion together as a church family on January 1. What a day it was!

Today, I'm excited for you all to hear from Gary and Pat Richards. The Richards have been missionaries, evangelists, and elders here at Meadows for years. They are as trusted of leaders as anyone I've ever known, and they have big things coming for them in 2023! Enjoy!

Happy New Year! It's a special joy for us to share with you this first week of the new year.

Our motto for 2023 is "India Here We Come!" It's been three years since our last overseas mission trip. We are excited and grateful to the Lord for this opportunity.

We have been involved in overseas missions since 1986. Traveling mostly to South Asia: India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar; as well as Hong Kong and China, the Philippines, Kenya and Ghana, and West Africa. God has called us to be His hands and feet to "The Least of These" (Matthew 25:40). Going to countries that are access restricted - where the government or leading religion is hostile to the Gospel of Jesus. Into the villages and towns that many people won't travel to.

Early January 2020, we flew home from our last mission trip, through Beijing China, a week before the coronavirus hit international news and began to shut down the world. When travel restrictions eased somewhat, traveling internationally was still restrictive and costly.

So we waited! And waited! And prayed and trusted the Lord. And put our hands and heart into whatever area of ministry the Lord opened for us. And waited some more.

How about you? Are you in a season of waiting? Not sure what direction to take in your life? Unable to pursue the activities and relationships you desire? We encourage you to pursue the most important relationship of your life - Jesus Christ.

In Psalm 40 David graphically describes his place of distress as 'a pit of tumult and of destruction'; contrasted with the steady rock that God set him upon.

"I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of a horrible pit [a pit of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my path." Psalm 40:1 AMPC

Wait. Patiently. Trust. Let Him pull you up and out of the tumult and destruction and set your feet on the Rock.

For us right now, the waiting is over! We will be traveling to India on January 23rd and returning on May 23rd. Airline tickets have been purchased, eyeglasses sorted and packed, visas obtained, living arrangements secured, and our itinerary set. Well, as set as can be. We have experienced last-minute changes and learned to be fluid; ready for whatever comes. Always remembering that "God's God This."

Ministry plans include church meetings, leaders' and pastors' conferences, eye clinics, tea garden and village outreaches.

Please pray for wisdom, guidance, and direction of the Holy Spirit as we believe God for:

Multitudes to receive salvation, healing, and deliverance. Signs, wonders, and miracles to follow the preaching of the Word. Hope and the love of Jesus to be imparted to many. Safety and favor as we travel.

We'd love for you to stay in touch with us. Hearing from home is a great joy and encouragement as we travel.

This Sunday, we're starting a new series entitled, This is Us.

With a New Year comes the opportunity to self-assess, re-evaluate, and dream again of not only who you are, but what you want to become.

That's what we'll do in this series. We'll take a good look at ourselves, our surroundings, our values and distinctives, and then look ahead at who we want to become as a community of Christ followers.

Join us this Sunday for Part 1 - This is Meadows.

By the way -- don't forget to bring your Bible and notebook/journal! (We have about 20 Lectio Divina journals left, click HERE to purchase yours; they'll be ready for pickup at the Info Center.)

Looking forward to seeing you all on the walkway!
